Ethnic Map of the Caucasus (1960)

This is one of the first ethnographic mappings after Chursin and Liaister's  1920s depiction of the "Talysh zone." Although the map was published in 1960, it was created prior to the 1959 census in which the Talysh population was "assimilated" into the Azerbaijani population. As a result, the Talysh are depicted as a nationality independent of the "titular" nationality of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.
