Chandigarh, India

Fast forward to today these objects have become monumentalized objects exported from the places they were designed for and becoming new imports, retracing the Hand A to Hand B lineage.  One such moment that has been documented has been the sudden interest in Chandigarh, India and it’s relationship to the Modernist architect Le Corbusier. [UNESCO description of Chandigarh, India]

What was billed as an attempt to provide India with a built structure leading toward a stable and modern post-colonial state, the planning and development of Chandigarh nonetheless enforced the concept of authority with its strict coding of, and authoritative use of, western modernist design.  [Le Corbusier's Masterpiece as told by the West]
